A subluxation is the medical term for a partial or complete dislocation of a joint or organ. In chiropractic, we treat vertebral subluxation which refer to misalignments in the joints of your spine.

Subluxations can be caused by poor posture, car accidents, over-sitting, text-neck, nutrition, improper lifting, etc. A subluxation is simply your body’s response to stress. When one of your joints is subluxated it interferes with your body’s ability to function as it should. A lot of the time subluxations will not leave noticeable symptoms. For example, interference with nerve impulses going to or from your stomach can showcase itself with stomach pain. Most people will assume their stomach pain is being caused by something they ate or drank and wouldn’t assume it could be caused by a spinal misalignment.

A properly aligned spine allows for your nervous system to work as it should. Since your nervous system controls every cell, tissue, organ and system of your body, it is essential for optimal health.

Only a chiropractic examination can detect subluxations, and only chiropractic adjustments can naturally reduce their effect to your nervous system. Schedule a consultation with us to find out if you have subluxations before they become more serious and more difficult to correct.

How come I’ve never heard of subluxations before?

While subluxations have not received the notoriety that other health issues, they are just as important and are often the underlying cause of a wide variety of health problems.

How do you get subluxations?

There are three basic causes of subluxations. Physical such as slips and falls, accidents, repetitive motions, and improper lifting. Emotional causes such as stress, anger and fear. Chemical causes such as nutrition, pollution, etc.

How can subluxations be corrected?

The most common treatment for vertebral subluxations is chiropractic adjustments. This is when your chiropractic applies force to the subluxated joint to move it back into the correct position.

How can I tell if I have subluxations?

You can have subluxations and not even know it. Like the early stages of tooth decay, subluxations can be present well before warning signs appear. This is why we recommend wellness care for patients whom we have already helped.

Can subluxations clear up on their own?

Sometimes, but not always. Today’s hectic lifestyles are a constant source of subluxations. Fortunately, our bodies have the ability to self-correct many of these minor problems as we bend and stretch, or when we sleep at night. When subluxations don’t resolve, they can lead to long-term problems. So, you’ll want to see a chiropractor for an adjustment!

Our Working Process

What to Expect

Relief Chiropractic Care

When patients come to us in pain, our top priority is to help relieve that pain so they can find comfort and feel better. While some patients feel relief in as little as one visit, it can take 2-3 visits per week for 4-12 weeks to achieve lasting real pain relief.

Corrective/Restorative Chiropractic Care

Muscles and tissues heal more completely during the corrective care phase, which prevents and reduces the risk of further injury. This phase typically requires 4-8 visits per month for 6-24 months depending on the severity of the issue.

Wellness Chiropractic Care

Once your body has completely healed, periodic adjustments become an important part of your healthcare regimen to avoid problems in the future. Based on your lifestyle and goals, we hope to see you 1-4 times per month.
